IWD21 virtual celebration
International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March. Every year, this day is celebrated with a theme…this year is no exception. The theme of IWD21 is Choose to Challenge. This day celebrates the women….their womanhood, their achievements be at home, socially, economically and culturally. To acknowledge their achievements and to motivate future generations to #choosetochallenge, on 7th March we organised a webinar with few such lady achievers. They were Dr. Khyati Garg(IPS working as Deputy Commissioner of Police), Dr. Anjlatachi Muthukumaram(Vice Principal at Era’s College of Nursing), Shampi Ventakesh(Entrepreneur & Independent consultant), Mani Tandon(Lawyer by profession and founder of Sri Jagdamba Mahila Grih Udyog), Usha Vishwakarma(Founder of Red Brigade, Lucknow to fight and raise voices against sexual violence).
The webinar/panel discussion opened with the introduction of the speakers and with a question What comes in your mind when you think of yourself as a Woman…
our distinguished panelists spoke about their lives and experiences and struggle. They shared their views depending on their personal experience. According to Dr. Khyati , You don’t need to have a mustache to do well, you need to have a spine. Shampi’s view was a little different from others. Shampi never felt gender bias in her long span of a corporate career. She also said that she never wanted to be a superwoman. Awareness campaign on physiological changes of a female should be given from class 7….that is what Dr. Anjlatachi Muthukumaram believes in. Usha Vishwakarma was a fighter in her life whose message to the younger generation was that Women should have the courage to come out of fear. Your values should be intact…must not forget to respect our elders was emphasized by Mani Tandon. Last but not least ...love yourself was said by our Deputy director Arundhati Choudhuri.
The webinar was attended by 160 people with a total duration of one hour and forty-five minutes.
