World Hepatitis Day………July 28th
World Hepatitis Day is celebrated worldwide every year on 28th July under a central theme…..Eliminate Hepatitis.9 out of 10 people living with Hepatitis are unaware. World Hepatitis Day provides an opportunity to focus on raising awareness, strengthening prevention, screening and control of Viral Hepatitis.
HOPE Initiative organises month-long activities to create awareness with the people from all walks of life through regular sessions, workshops, screening and vaccination camps, rallies, leaflet distributions etc.
Workshop & Conclave
We organised a health awareness workshop with ICDS UP and Department of Panchayat Raj UP at State level training centre, Lohia Bhavan, Lucknow. Approximately 900 participated in the programme.

Reaching out to more and more
We did banner campaigning on Hepatitis awareness at various metro stations in New Delhi for 10 days. We also made 100 autos running in and around Gurgaon carrying our banner on Hepatitis awareness.
Nukkad Natak team created awareness on Hepatitis B at the busy railway and bus stations at Lucknow.
Rallies
To mark the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, HOPE Initiative with the help of school students organised two rallies in two districts. In Lucknow, 600 students of Colvin Taluqadars College with placards and pamphlets marched on the road and created awareness through slogans on precaution and safety regarding Hepatitis. They distributed 10,000 pamphlets among the general public as they moved on the roads, informing people about this disease. Mukesh Kumar( DIOS- District Inspector of Schools) inaugurated the rally. Another rally was organized in Sitapur District where 700 students walked for 5 km distributing pamphlets, holding placards and spreading Hepatitis awareness messages.

Inmates and staffs of Deaadiction centres like Noor Manzil and Nirvan hospital of Lucknow were sensitised with hepatitis awareness. Around 115 patients attended the session.

Beauticians and Barbers
Barber shops and beauty parlours are the highly sensitive place for spreading the hepatitis virus. We have been sensitising the barbers of Lucknow and Gurgaon for the last few years. This year, it is our maiden attempt to create awareness among the beauticians of both Lucknow and Gurgaon.
A Hepatitis awareness workshop was held at Fortis Hospital with various parlour representatives from Gurgaon. A total of 20 members were present at the workshop. The movie on Hepatitis was screened which was then followed by an informative and interesting session by Dr. Gourdas Choudhuri. Mrs. Arundhati Choudhuri also had an interactive session the audience.
Earth Day theme is “Plastic Pollution”.
HOPE Initiative Gurgaon has taken a plantation drive this year by planting saplings in 8 schools in Gurgaon. Children were explained the importance of tree plantation. They enthusiastically took part in the plantation.
We have also selected five schools to calculate their plastic footprints and also to encourage them to use paper bags to reduce plastic pollution.
